Custom Portraits

I get asked all the time if I do custom portraits, and the answer is YES! Follow the easy steps below to order your very own custom art portrait.

What to Expect

Each artwork is hand created on archival paper with professional museum grade materials. It is then mounted on a neutral colored acid free mat (frame not included), carefully placed in a photo bag (except pastel works), securely wrapped, and packaged. Pastel works are wrapped in glassine paper to prevent lifting of the pastel, and then packaged. If your artwork is being shipped, all work is shipped via UPS and insured. Shipping prices change regularly, so I will send you a quote for shipping when your order is placed.

Pricing is based on size, medium, the number of images requested, and the background style. A 50% deposit is required to add the work to the schedule with the balance due upon completeion. Shipping rates change regularly so I will send you an estimate when the order is placed.  You will be notified of the actual cost when the work is complete.

I am often scheuled out several months, so please email me here to get an idea of where your work will be placed on the schedule. Once you order your artwork, you will receive an email to confirm your order, and a link to submit your reference photos. You will receive another email when your work is started, as well as 2 updates throught the process so you can witness your custom artwork come to life. When the artwork is complete, I will send you a final email letting you know it is complete, as well as the actual cost of shipping.

Step 1- Select Your Size

I usually work in standard US sizes to allow you to purchase an off the shelf frame and easily frame your artwork yourself. Sizes are listed as Artwork Size (Frame/Mat Size).  Custom framing is available upon request at an additional charge. Don’t see the size you are looking for? Send me a message here to let me know what size you are interested in.

Step 2- Select Your Medium

I work in three primary mediums, graphite/pencil (black and white), colored pencil, and pastel (like high quality colored chalk).  Each of these lend a different look and feel to the artwork but are priced slightly different and have different handling techniques.  Because of the dusty nature of pastel, pastel works must be framed under glass (vs plexiglass or framing acrylic) because of the small pigment particles that can be attracted to the plexiglass by static. It also requires a different surface than the paper that I usually use for pencil mediums.

Examples of each medium are below.

Step 3- Select Your Number of Images

Want a combination of multiple photos? Sometimes clients want multiple pets in a protrait from different photos, different angles of the same pet,  or maybe an additional person placed in a drawing from another photo.

Select how many primary references you will be using. (Additional references may be used for clarifying features such as color or markings at no additional charge. )

**Reference photos MUST be images that you have taken or you have permission to use. If the reference photo(s) are taken by a professional photographer, you must have permission from the photographer to use the image for reproduction as artwork. Not doing so is copyright infringment and could casue potential lawsuits. Please click here for more information on copyright infringment or email me any questions you may have.
